First Love

How easily you forget me, beloved

How easily you turn away to other lovers

You burn offerings to other gods and cover yourself with their beauty

You pursue them to their high places and spread your offerings at their feet

But did you forget, it was I who gave you the grain and the wine and the oil, the silver and gold

But as these things fade away you will be heard to say,

‘I’ll return to my first Love, for He is better for me,

I’ll return to my first Love, for He is better for me.’

And I will allure you

I’ll lead you into the wilderness

Where you will learn to lean on Me

And I’ll speak tenderly

And make your trouble a door of hope

…and there in that place, you’ll find your first Love again

Every step every breath belongs to You God

Every part, every plan is in Your hands

Hosea 2:14 – 15

“Therefore, behold, I will allure her,

and bring her into the wilderness,

and speak tenderly to her.

And there I will give her her vineyards

and make the Valley of Achor a door of hope.

And there she shall answer as in the days of her youth,

as at the time when she came out of the land of Egypt.” ESV
